What a wonderful New Year’s Eve that was!
Good company in L’escargot de Sommeil, the best French restaurant in town.
All of us around the table, engrossed with our smartphones, our faces lit by the blue of the screens.
Eating wasn’t difficult as we were able to scroll with one hand whilst stabbing our food with the other.
The only sound came from the noise of fireworks outside. I watched them upon my screen as the show was being broadcast.
As soon as we arrived home we tweeted each other to say how much we had enjoyed the evening.
The only sour note came from one person who suggested that in future our smart phones be left at home.
I don’t think that they will be invited again.
