January 2017

Last year I posted a Facebook status that referenced this proverb:

If you get up one more time than you fall, you will make it through.

I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently. To me it expresses hope, not in a radical or unattainable way, but something that is practical and concrete. No matter the reason, if you’re glad to see the back of a year, January presents the opportunity to approach things with a new attitude. Each year brings the possibility of more of the same, more of the struggles we’ve already been carrying, of course; but if we just keep picking ourselves up, we can carry on.

This month, write something inspired by this proverb. You can write about the fall, but remember that you can also write about the response to it.
